(There was no construction activity completed on Sunday, November 25th or Saturday, December 1st.)

  • The contractor is currently working on the south side of Monroe Street NE Bridge within the construction zone. The following was completed during the above period: continued prep work for demolition of the existing Monroe Street Bridge (Phase 2); started installing the protection shield for the gas main in Span 2; continued removing the grout from the joints between the box beam girders; and saw cut the existing sidewalk and parapet wall in Span 2. There were no lane closures needed to complete this week’s construction activity. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.·      

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Due to construction, there is no parking on Monroe Street from 7th - 8th Street NE.

  • Signs directing motorist and bicyclist have been posted. Please stay alert and obey signage when traveling through this area.

(There was no construction activity completed on Sunday, November 18th; Thursday, November 22nd - Friday, November 23rd - Thanksgiving Day Holiday Observed; or Saturday, November 24th.)

  • The contractor is currently working on the south side of Monroe Street NE Bridge within the construction zone. The following was completed during the above period: saw cut and demolished existing parapet wall over the CSX tracks (Spans 1 & 3); demolished existing back walls at east abutment (Phase 2); and drilled holes into existing beams for lifting over CSX tracks (Spans 1 & 3). There were no lane closures needed to complete this week’s construction activity. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.

(There was no construction activity completed on Sunday, November 11th or Monday, November 12th - Veterans Day Holiday Observed. There was construction activity completed on Saturday, November 17th.)

  • The contractor is currently working on the south side of Monroe Street NE Bridge within the construction zone. The following was completed during the above period: demolished existing back walls at abutments; drilled holes into existing beams for lifting over CSX tracks (Spans 1 & 3); worked to connect power to new traffic and pedestrian signal at 8th Street intersection; installed the protection shield beneath the existing gas main over CSX tracks; saw cut and removed existing parapet over the CSX tracks (south side, Spans 1 & 3); and saw cut and removed existing sidewalk over the CSX tracks (south side, Spans 1 & 3). There were no lane closures needed to complete this week’s construction activity. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.

(There was no construction activity completed on Sunday, November 4th or Saturday, November 10th)

  • The contractor is currently working on the south side of Monroe Street NE Bridge within the construction zone. The following was completed during the above period: began to saw cut and remove existing fence from the south side of Monroe Street Bridge; installed temporary wooden fence on the south side and painted with retro reflective red and white paint; set up for the bridge fence removal and installed the temporary protection shield in bay 13 for the existing gas main; secured the work zone with traffic drums; began removal of the existing bridge fence and mobilized the snooper and snooper truck for proposed demolition; installed the temporary scaffolding along the south side of the west abutment wall A-1; began core drilling for the proposed lifting lugs; began saw cutting existing parapet for the demolition (south side, Span 1 & 3); and worked on concrete repair prep work (abutment A1, Phase 2). There were no lane closures needed to complete this week’s construction activity. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.
