Sunday, March 10 – Saturday, March 16, 2019: Project Updates
(There was no construction activity completed on Sunday, March 10th or Saturday, March 16th)

  • The contractor completed the following activities for this week as a part of phase 2 demolition: continued to remove concrete from the columns and existing rebar at the piers in preparation to install steel forms for new columns; continued assembling the steel form and rebar cage; began formwork for the proposed backwall and abutment seat at the east abutment; installed form and rebar for both columns at pier 2 (east and west abutment backwalls); continued demolition and formwork installation at piers 1 & 2 columns and at west abutment; placed both columns concrete at pier 2 and placed the east abutment bridge seat concrete; removed spalled and hollow concrete and installed wire mesh for proposed concrete repairs at the west abutment and crash walls at piers 1 & 2. There were no lane closures needed to complete these activities. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Due to construction, there is no parking on Monroe Street from 7th - 8th Street NE.

  • Signs directing motorist and bicyclist have been posted. Please stay alert and obey signage when traveling through this area.

  • The contractor completed the following activities for this week as a part of phase 2 demolition: continued to remove concrete from the columns and existing rebar at the piers in preparation to install steel forms for new columns; continued construction of the steel forms for new columns; continued demolition of the backwall; removed spalled and hollow concrete for proposed concrete repairs at the west abutment and crash wall (pier 1). There were no lane closures needed to complete these activities. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.
