• The contractor has partially suspended bridge demolition work while WGL Energy completes all activity. Cable crews were on site at the east end of the bridge to verify existing abandoned cable. There were no lane closures needed to complete these activities. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.

• Signs directing motorist and bicyclist have been posted. Please stay alert and obey signage when traveling through this area.

• The contractor has partially suspended bridge demolition work while WGL Energy completes all activity. Work is scheduled to resume by January 11, 2019. WGL Energy’s contractor mobilized on site to begin preparation work for the removal of the existing gas main. In addition, Long Fence was on site taking field measurements for the proposed new bridge fence. There were no lane closures needed to complete these activities. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.

• The contractor is currently working on the south side of Monroe Street NE Bridge within the construction zone. The following was completed during the above period: continued to remove the grout from the joints between the existing box beam girders (Spans 1 & 3); continued demolition of existing sidewalk over Spans 1 & 3; and continued street light conduit and manhole installation on Monroe Street between 9th & 10th Street intersection. There were no lane closures needed to complete this week’s construction activity. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.

• The contractor is currently working on the south side of Monroe Street NE Bridge within the construction zone. The following was completed during the above period: Continued to remove the grout from the joints between the existing box beam girders (Span 2); saw cut the existing sidewalk in Spans 1 & 2; removed 4 sections of the existing sidewalk; continued demolition of existing sidewalk over Span 1; and removed debris from portion of the demolished south sidewalk. There were no lane closures needed to complete this week’s construction activity. Traffic was maintained with two open-lanes, eastbound and westbound.
